How to take care of Fuchsia Lady Thumb
Fuchsias grow best in semi shade to filtered light in a sheltered position. Plant the base of the stem 5cm (2in) below the soil surface. It’s half-hardy so you still need to protect the crown from frost in autumn with a winter mulch of compost, bark or straw. Plant Fuchsias into humus rich, moist, well-drained soil and shelter from cold drying winds. Deadhead regularly to ensure it flowers throughout the summer and add a little fertilizer once the main flush has finished to encourage a second round of flowers in autumn. Prune back dead or broken branches in spring, especially on plants that were left outside in areas with mild winters. Keep moist at all times. Apply a dressing of general fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Take cuttings of hardy fuchsia in early autumn as insurance against frost damage
