Blackberry Rubus fruticosus Theodor Reimers is a self-fertile blackberry variety with a very high yield producing large juicy fruits late in the season. It is hardy and suitable as a solitary as well as for group planting. It’s a thorny variety so when planted in groups can also be used as a barrier hedge. The Blackberry fruits can be enjoyed straight from the bush, or you can also make good preserves.

How to take care of Blackberry Theodor Reimers

Carefully remove the shrub from the pot and place it in the centre of the hole. If your soil is not acidic enough, grow these fruit bushes in pots or ask your local garden centre for rhododendron potting soil. Put the plants in a sunny spot, sheltered from strong winds. Fruit bushes don't need much, rainwater is often enough, but don't let the soil dry out, especially during flowering and when they bear fruit during the season. Give fertiliser in spring and mulch in winter to protect them from frost. If they are in a pot, protect the pot from frost or put them in a greenhouse if possible. Plants need little pruning in the first three years. On mature plants, prune back old branches that have borne fruit and remove damaged or diseased branches.
