Iris Germanica Collection (Bearded Irises) x 3
Iris Germanica Collection (Bearded Irises) x 3
Iris Germanica Collection (Bearded Irises) is a classic trio of bearded irises, loved for their bold, elegant flowers and timeless presence in the garden border.
Location
These bearded irises do best in a sunny spot, and they will also grow well in semi shade. They suit outdoor borders where their flowering can be appreciated in season.
Contents
Supplied as a set of three Iris germanica rootstocks, ideal for planting as a small group for a more cohesive display.
Growth habit and size
Once established, the plants build up to their full grown form over around two years, creating a stronger clump that looks best when given space to develop.
Plant care
Plant into well-drained soil with the rootstocks set close to the surface. In early spring, a feed with pelleted cow manure supports steady growth.
Pruning and maintenance
After flowering, remove spent flower stems neatly. In late summer, established clumps can be divided and replanted to keep them vigorous.
Winter hardiness
Hardy down to –20°C, making it a dependable choice for Irish gardens in a suitable outdoor position.
