Nesting box Site: out of reach of predators and shelter it away from prevailing winds, rain, and strong sunlight. Do not place it adjacent to other bird tables and feeding devices. Do not put anything in it - the birds will add their own nesting materials. Helpful Hints: A prickly collar placed above and below the nest box will help to deter predators. Do not disturb the nest box, once it's in use, until fledglings have left the next, usually by the end of August. Thoroughly clean the nest box during early October, as it's very likely to be used as a winter roosting site. Cleaning: Remove screws from the face to open box for cleaning.
