This deciduous blackcurrant 'Titania' is a heavy cropping modern Swedish variety. In April/May after spring frosts it will produce racemes of dropping flowers which are followed by the black berries that ripens mid-season. The black berries are juicy and have a sour taste. Best planted in a warm, sunny and sheltered spot in the garden. The more sun it gets, the better the harvest of berries will be.

Soak the roots for approx. 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. This is a hardy deciduous Black Currant Titania shrub thrives in a sunny sheltered position but will tolerate partial shade. In colder areas, plant Black Currant Titania near a south-facing wall. Use a well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. They will not tolerate heavy, wet soil. Drought tolerant once established. Black Currant Titania do well in various soil types. Black Currant Titania likes to be constantly moist, but not wet. Do not use any stimulants, fertiliser or bonemeal at planting time as such products will 'burn' any new root growth. During the active growing season an occasional feed or a light top dress with a base fertiliser will prove beneficial. Container-grown Black Currant Titania plants should be brought indoors in extreme winter conditions. Check Black Currant Titania plants periodically for pests such as aphids, white flies, and mealy bugs. Use a horticultural oil or insecticidal soap to control these pests.
