How to take care of Standard Nectarine Prunus Persica Rubira

Grow in a warm sunny, sheltered spot in well-drained soil. This variety is self fertile but it will benefit from a little hand pollinating with a brush due to the lack of insects at it's blossoming time. Pruning and training should be done in the year of planting and every year after to develop a strong, well balanced framework. Remove diseased, dead, broken, crossed branches and low-hanging limbs. Then remove vigorous upright shoots that may have developed on the inside if left these could shade the centre. Fruit thinning is a good idea, as it will allow the remaining fruits to develop optimum size, shape, and colour. Remove any fallen leaves and fruit from around the base of the tree regularly to prevent disease. Protect in winter.
