Creating a carpet of color of bright scarlet-red flowers, each with a tiny darker eye and dark green needle-like foliage. Wonderful in the sunny rock garden, for edging, in mixed containers and spectacular when cascading over walls. Tolerates some drought once established.

How to take care of Phlox subulata Scarlet Flame
Planting site: well-drained soil in full sun. If plants become too large, you can divide them in late summer. Take care whilst planting to loosen up the root balls this will help them spread more quickly. Apply some organic fertilizer once every spring. During early summer, apply a standard border fertilizer to boost growth and plant health. Deadhead to keep Phlox from looking ragged by removing any old, dead stems. Trimming an inch off the top of the plant, and cutting back stems can lead to more full growth in the summer and into the following growing season. Drought tolerant once established.
Do not be alarmed by the appearance of your plants, they will quiickly turn green in spring.
