A real novelty! Hydrangea paniculata Diamant Rouge is part of the new magical series, they are known for changing bloom colour every few weeks. Flowers are white when they first appear, but gradually change colour, first to pink and then a deeper shade of rich radiant purple/red. A highly branched, very decorative strong shrub that's beautiful in every season, in a pot on the patio, in the borders of your garden or in a vase on the table indoors. Supplied as a young specimen.

How to take care of Hydrangea paniculata Diamant Rouge

Hydrangeas require a moisture retentive soil that is enriched with organic matter such as peat. Thrives best in partial shade. Choose a sheltered position against a wall or under a tree but avoid hedges. Protect against severe frost in winter. Do not remove dead flower heads - leave them on through the winter as they help protect the plant from frost. To maintain a specific height they may be pruned immediately after blooming as flower buds are formed on previous season's growth. In spring, feed established plants with a fertiliser and apply a thick layer of mulch for protection of the roots. Colour is strongly affected by the level of PH and aluminium in the soil. Fertiliser can be added in spring to enhance the coloration. In colder regions, flower buds may freeze without protection.
