The beauty of this standard Photinia “Red Robin” is its ability to produce a spectacular display all year round. Its shiny, variegated foliage has a high ornamental value. Red Robin is quite a new cultivar, with its leaves, giving a brighter red glow as the new leaves emerge and mature. And in this stylish lollipop standard form, it simply makes a great centre piece.

How to take care of Standard Photinia Red Robin

Plant in a large planter with drainage holes and place a layer of pebbles in the bottom of the pot to ensure good drainage or it can be planted directly into the ground. It prefers a chalky soil and a sunny well sheltered position. Stake the shrub until it is strong enough to withstand the wind itself. Prune into shape in Feb. - March. During harsh winters you may need to bring pot grown trees indoors to an unheated room until it warms up.
