Vrieseas are native to Central and South America. They belong to the Bromeliad family and are found growing wild in tropical rain forests. They make exceptional ornamental house plants, with distintive rosette-like flower heads usually yellow, bright red or deep red, which only add to their amazing appearance. The flowers can last for months and the breathtaking leaf colours makes this plant a strong focal point even when it is not in bloom.

How to take care of Vriesea Orange Golden

They like to be positioned in light shade. They require good air circulation. Keep the rosette filled with tepid water. For best results once a week submerge the whole plant in water for a few minutes.Remove dead leaves and clean plants regularly to prevent disease. A general purpose, liquid houseplant fertiliser can be applied to the soil every 1 to 2 months or slow release fertiliser tablets. Do not to add fertiliser into the centre because this can lead to an accumulation of fertiliser salts that may burn newly emerging leaves. Keep plants at room temperature, as they are susceptible to injury from cold temperatures.Bromeliads only flower once in their lifetime, once the plant has flowered it will produces babies called 'pups' around it’s base, when these pups are about half the size of the mother plant they are ready to root and should be transplanted into their own pots where they will flower a few months later and the whole cycle will start off again.
