Belle Etoile mock orange is an arching, deciduous shrub with a compact growth habit. It’s a delightful variety that blooms profusely from late spring to early summer. The distinctive brilliant white flowers have maroon centres and golden-yellow stamens that are complimented by the dark green leaves. This low maintainence shrub is perfect for planting in the middle sunny border or mixed border where its wonderfully sweet, orange blossom fragrance can be fully appreciated. Also suitable for poor soils and can be quite tolerant of urban pollution

How to take care of Philadelphus Belle Etoile

For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Plant upon receipt for best results. Position your Philadelphus in full sun any well-drained fertile soil. Young stems should be cut back to a strong bud each year after flowering. On older plants, remove roughly a quarter of the oldest branches each year to encourage new growth. To propagate, take softwood cuttings in summer or hardwood cuttings in autumn or winter.
