How to take care of Aucuba japonica Crotonifolia
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. This evergreen shrub will grow well in most types of soil including heavy clay, but it does requires decent drainage. Likes a part shade or full shade position in an exposed or sheltered location. Avoid planting in times of frost. It copes well with in dry conditions and is suitable for coastal gardens. Produces insignificant dark-purple flowers from April to May and red berries during autumn winter. Grows up to 2.5 mtrs. It is necessary to plant male and female varieties in order to produce seed.
